Happy almost Spring everyone!! It's been very bipolar weather here in West Virginia lately with 60 degrees one day and snow the next haha! Winter to Spring transition pieces are definitely important for this time of year! Today, I am so excited to share with you a company that has quickly become one of my favorite ethical companies ever...Elegantees! Elegantees was initially born in June 2010 as a vision to help fight human trafficking through fashion by founder Katie Martinez. Katie learned about human trafficking's connection to the fast fashion industry while a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Originally, she wanted to own her own nonprofit fashion company with all profits being donated to an organization that was fighting human trafficking. Then she met a man who had been doing anti-trafficking work in Nepal for 20+ years who shared with her a vision to transform Nepal by reducing poverty. Since then, she realized a fair wage company which could employ seamstresses and keep them out of trafficking would be a better and more sustainable option in the long run for everyone involved. I took advantage of Elegantees end of year BOGO sale a few months ago to get some Spring dresses and transition pieces.
